RENATO ARRIGO
Renato Arrigo's professional activity is documented in numerous Italian and foreign publications.
He has designed residential, hotel, social-educational, and commercial buildings for private clients; for public clients, he has designed university faculties (Institute of Statistical Sciences in Messina), an arts center (Horcynus Orca in Torre Faro), a museum for archaeological finds near Taormina, public gardens (Villa Dante, Villa Sabin), various urban squares (Rometta and Milazzo), the restoration of religious buildings (S. Pietro e Paolo in Itala), building prototypes for the National Research Center (Contesse), and conversion proposals for the CNR Itae (Villa de Pasquale in S. Lucia sopra Contesse). He combines architecture with design, promoting various initiatives in the sector. He has exhibited in Paris, São Paulo, and Sofia.
Selected in both Schio (VI) and Rome in May 2024 by the Italian Association of Architecture and Criticism for various projects, he was awarded the ‘Adolfo Celi’ prize for best creative direction in 2021, first prize in the international competition 'Le cinque farine' 2019, the international “Houzz Design 2018” award assigned by the community among over 40 million users, the “Houzz Design 2017” award, the “Houzz Design 2016” award, the national “Selinunte 2014” award for best contemporary architecture installation, the lifetime achievement award for the architecture-art section “Kafka 2014,” the third international prize for hotel architecture “Pida 2012,” and the prize “I Quadranti di architettura 2010” named after G. B. Vaccarini for a work of architecture “created in Sicily of evident architectural quality.”

Passionate about marketing, media events, and advertising communication, he was regional vice president of the National Institute of Architecture, Sicily section, for many years, a member of the last Messina building commission, a member of the Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti, and current advisor to the Fondazione il Sangue. He has enriched his experience with specific ethical implications included in the Taobook 2019 scoreboard.
He has participated in various international competitions for innovative ideas and products, producing industrial design prototypes and developing multifunctional housing models for the CNR.
In March 2019, he was a guest of the Italian Trade Agency in Sofia as part of Italian Design Day to hold a conference with the Italian Ambassador to Bulgaria at the New Bulgarian University, focusing on the theme ‘Abitare, la bellezza arriva dal Sud’ (Living, beauty comes from the South), a publication edited by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In 2017, he was selected to exhibit at the Pisa Biennial - Refresh.
In 2014, he was invited by the Italian Embassy in Brazil to contribute, as a representative of Italian architecture, to the “Italia nella coppa” program as part of the World Cup, with specific contributions discussed at the European Institute of Design in São Paulo.
